Ms. Verdugo's Principal's Message
Hello Tiger Families!
Tomorrow begins our 3rd Trimester of the 2021-2022 School Year and time is flying by, WOW! We're excited to say that our students have made progress over these past few months and have surely proven that they are resilient with getting back into a full-time school mode that is quite different than they were used to.
Our entire Tiger Staff have been working hard to provide interventions both in and out of the classroom, as well as with tutoring, to get those students who need extra assistance to reach their grade level goals and really just 'catch up' after months of very trying year through Covid.
This week is "Read Across America Week," where we have lots of fun Dress Up Days and Activities planned for the students. We hope that our parents will encourage their students to READ... READ... READ when they are at home, both for homework, AND, just for fun. Our PAWS-ibilites Challenge is a great incentive we have on campus for students to Read, Record a Flip-Grid Video where they talk about their book, and then they can earn books for their home libraries, as well as other prizes. During this time, student get DOUBLE THE POINTS!!!
Parents, we thank you for all your support in helping us improve our traffic situation, as well as reduce the number of Tardies we have daily. We have gone for 80+ kids late to school, to about 18 on average. THAT'S AMAZING!! Please continue to follow our Drop-Off and Pick-Up practices by:
-Pulling all they way forward to where the yellow sign is
-Make sure your students are ready with all their belongings to exit your care quickly and safely
-Do not exit your vehicle if you are in the drop off lane. This delays our flow and we get very backed up. If you need to help your student exit the car, please park in our parking lot.
- Try to arrive at school earlier to avoid our busiest times. We open our gate at 7:45 a.m. and there is little to no delays between 7:45 a.m. and 8:05 a.m.
- Our gate closes at 8:15 promptly.
- To our families who walk their students. Please only cross at the crosswalk. If you cross anywhere else on Corona Ave., you are stopping the traffic flow, which increases delays.
- Please DO NO drop off any students on Corona Ave. This is dangerous and also causes traffic jams.
It's going to be a FANTASTIC few months until the end of this school year, and we're looking forward to Keeping you Informed, Supporting you with supporting your students, and Making sure our Tiger Students are having a memorable school year, with all the changes they've had to endure.
Happiness and Joy to you all!
Sandy Verdugo, Principal
